The 2nd Annual Internet Safety Awards Gala will take place on March 12, 2009 from 6pm to 8pm at Farrington High School located at 1564 North King Street. (MAPQUEST)

Update, Sunday, February 8, 2009

All of the entries from the schools around the State of Hawaii are now in. Soon, our esteemed panel of judges will be reviewing and rating the entries and picking the winners of the 2009 Internet Safety Awards. It's really exciting!
This years entries are excellent and the judges are going to have a difficult picking the winners since there are so many wonderful entries by our talented entrants.

Stay tuned for more updates and the date for the 2009 Internet Safety Awards Gala is drawing closer.

Update, Friday, January 16, 2009. Happy New Year everyone. It won't be long before the 2009 Internet
Safety Awards will be picking this years winner. An important note here! Because of the inclement weather
in the state this past week, the deadline for submissions for consideration in this years awards has been extended
from Wednesday, January 20, 2009 to Friday, January 23, 2009. Please get your entries in as soon as possible
as the deadline is only a week away!! Good luck to all of our talented entrants!!

Update, Monday, October 13, 2008 - The ISA is now in full swing. Once again, the Hawaii State Department of
Education, Microsoft, YouTube, Oceanic Cable, Sprint and other loyal advertisers are once again partnering
with us to make the 2009 Internet Safety Awards even better than the 2008 ISA Awards.

Update, Thursday, October 2, 2008 - National Cyber Security Awareness Month October has been designated as National Cyber Security Awareness Month to bring attention to the importance of protecting yourself, your family and your information online.

Every October, the National Cyber Security Division of Homeland Security coordinates with states, universities and the private sector to educate the public and provide tools to help them engage in safe online activities. Through education on cyber security, American will be empowered to protect themselves online and protect their computer from being used to attack others.

By protecting yourself on the Internet, you also protect others.

Partnerships are the Key to National Cyber Security Awareness Month

Homeland Security has key awareness partners to help effectively educate all citizens. These partnerships make National Cyber Security Awareness Month happen by bringing multiple events and people to participate in this national event. These key partners are:

  • The National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) focuses on home users, small businesses, kindergarten through high school plus university students.
  • The Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC) focuses on state and local employees and helps them communicate about Cyber Security to the public.

Update, September 6, 2008 - ISA 2009

It is confirmed...The InfraGard Honolulu Member Alliance will again present the Internet Safety Awards PSA contest for 2009! The Hawaii State DOE-ATR Executive Team has give a verbal commitment for the DOE to be a "partner" in this event.

The DOE-ATR played a major role in last year's contest and now wants to expand that role for ISA 2009. They will be assisting in obtaining a venue for the awards gala and plans are now in the works to have the ISA 2009 entries be "previewed" and "judged" at their 2009 eSchool Conference to be held in February 2009.

Oceanic Time Warner Cable's Kiman Wong has told Infragard's President, Chris Duque that OTWC will again be a sponsor for the Internet Safety Awards in 2009. Last year, not only did OTWC give a cash donation, they provided great contest prizes in the form of computer laptop bags. Most importantly, Oceanic Time Warner Cable were responsible for getting the Internet Safety Awards PSAs aired on locally on television.

April 9, 2008

The First Annual Internet Safety Awards contest which took place on April 9, 2008 invited middle, intermediate and high school students throughout the state to submit short PSA videos addressing cyberbullying, digital piracy/plagiarism and the online social networking.

The gala event took place at the Leeward Community College Theater on April 9, 2008 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm and was a rousing success. (slide show by Kiman Wong HERE)

Update June 4, 2008 - The Hawaii Chapter of Infragard has been awarded the prestigious National Community Outreach Award and Special Agent Arnold Laanui of the Honolulu FBI Office has been awarded the 2008 Infragard Coordinator of the Year Award.
