Welcome to the The Internet Safety Awards presented by Infragard Hawaii, FBI, Sassy and G Magazine.
Rules
The Internet Safety Awards Contest gives students, working
individually or in teams, the opportunity to create and produce their
own public service announcement on Internet safety issues.
The contest is open to students from grades 5 through 12 statewide
from public, private and charter schools.
Entrance Submission and Guidelines
Videos must be the individual's or team's own original work.
Assistance from a professional production company is not permitted.
All entries must include:
1. One original, fully produced 25-second video with slate.
(See ''Video Format Specification Requirements" for
submission details.)
2. Completed and signed entry form(s), including the Entry
Release Form for Image and Video for each team member.
3. Copies of any necessary releases or licenses required to use
third-party content. It is the entrant's responsibility to ensure
that all the necessary forms and releases are completed.
Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
All entry materials must be submitted together, and each piece
should be clearly labeled with the individual or team leader's name,
video title, and school. Individuals or teams may submit multiple
entries in the same or different categories.
Video categories are:
- Cyber-bullying
- On-line Piracy & Plagiarism
- On-line Predators & Social Networking Precautions
Entry Forms
Students must complete and sign a separate entry form for each
video entered.
For team entries, students must submit a Team Entry Form, plus one
Individual Entry Form for each team member.
Teams may include students from different schools, but each team
must select one team leader, one sponsoring school, and one
sponsoring teacher. Any prizes awarded will be given to the
sponsoring school.
Video Format Specification Requirements
Length 25 seconds, maximum
NTSC 4:3 interlaced
Timebase 29.97 fps
Frame size 720 X 480 (preferred)
640 X 480
Audio 32/48kHz (48kHz preferred)
12/16 bit (16 bit preferred)
stereo/mono (stereo preferred)
File format:
.avi
.mov
.mpeg
Media format:
Mini DV tape (preferred)
CD
Data DVD
NOTE: When submitting on CD/DVD, do NOT set the video to 'autorun'.
Submit the video as a file in one the above listed file formats.
All video entries must be "slated" with the category, title and school
name.
Video entries must follow this format in this order:
1) 15 seconds of video black.
2) 10 second slate with the category, title and school.
3) 5 seconds 4) Start video o efn vtirdye. o black.
Only multiple entries in the same category may be submitted on a
single tape or disc.
No credits.

No late entries will be accepted.

Judging:
A panel of judges will select the finalists and winners.
Awards will be given in the following categories:
- Cyber-bullying
- On-line Piracy & Plagiarism
- On-line Predators & Social Networking
Additional Awards will be given to:
- Best of show
- People's Choice
Videos will be judged as follows:
1. Content (25 percent of score): Is the message clear? Is
information accurate and pertinent? If any third party content is
incorporated in the video, have appropriate releases or licenses
been secured?
2. Effectiveness/Impact (25 percent of score): Does the video
appeal to youth? Does it make an impact on viewers?
3. Creativity (25 percent of score): Is the video the original work
of students that has not previously been broadcast on
television? Is it creative?
4. Videography (25 percent of score): Does the video contain
high-quality images and sound?
Finalists will be chosen in each of the 3 categories.
All finalists will be notified in February 2010.
Internet Safety Awards Show
The Internet Safety Awards will be held again at Farrington HS Auditorium.
The Gala Awards Ceremony will take place from 5pm to 8p on Friday, April 16, 2010..
Admission will be by invitation only. This "film
festival" type event will include entertainment and local celebrity
presenters.
All finalists will be invited to the Internet Safety Awards and have
their videos shown. Winners will be announced and presented with
an award and certificate
Prizes:
Prize list will be posted on the ISA website at a later date. Complete
